Hi, my name is Karen Dexheimer. I have been teaching second grade for the past 28 years at Germantown Hills School. I am a native of the area. I am thrilled to be teaching in the same district that I attended as a child. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Eureka College. I received my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Olivet Nazarene University.
My husband, Michael, and I are the proud parents of Kody and Kassidy. Kody is 27 years old and lives and works in the St. Louis area. Kassidy is 22 years old and will be pursuing a Master's Degree in Nursing at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville this fall. She is considered a "super senior" and is eligible for another year of running there, too. My husband also works for the school district as the computer technician/software specialist. The boys enjoy fishing, tennis, and bowling and the girls enjoy shopping, cooking, and baking. I also enjoy fitness classes at Five Points such as Body Pump, Body Flow, and Core.
We also have a dachshund named Teddy B. that Kody gave me for my birthday in 2018. Kody has his brother named Diggs.
We welcomed Dexter, another dachshund, in 2019...Kody strikes again. He knows I can't say no.

My name is Jessica Schertz and I have been teaching Special Education for 11 years. I worked in the district last year as a Special Education teacher and also as a paraprofessional and a substitute teacher. I received my Bachelors Degree in Special Education from Illinois State University. I recently received my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction (Autism Spectrum Disorder) from Arizona State University.
My husband and I have two children. My daughter is in 5th grade this year and my son is in 2nd grade in the district. We like to spend time outdoors as much as possible, whether camping, hiking, or swimming. We also enjoy doing obstacle races, individually and as a family. My daughter is on a travel softball team, and my son enjoyed playing baseball over the summer. We have two dogs that are like our children. One is an Australian Shepard and Black Lab mix. She thinks she is a lap dog and loves to snuggle. The other is a Catahoula. He is our escape artist and gets out of the fenced in backyard, on a regular basis.

Hi! My name is Mrs. Stephanie Sanders, Instructional Assistant at Germantown Hills Elementary School. I am 42 years old. I have been married for 18 years to my wonderful husband, Matt Sanders. We have two children, Noah, who is 16 and Audrey, who is 13.
I love warm weather, bike riding, going on vacations and shopping at Ross! My husband loves traveling, volleyball, theater, and Mexican food. Noah recently received his drivers license and we bought him a super cool truck! He is a member of the Metamora Township High School Marching Band. He plays a low brass instrument called the Baritone. Noah is a section leader and he is dedicated to his band directors and friends. He is so excited for the season to start!
Audrey loves learning and is attending a new school this year as an 8th grader. She will be attending Peoria Christian and is excited about meeting her new friends and teachers. Audrey plays for an Elite Club volleyball team that travels to different states to compete. She is coachable, dedicated, and works hard to accomplish what she has set out to do.
As a family, we go on walks and bike rides, play board games, cook, and support each other at sporting events, and enjoy yearly vacations. Most importantly, we love life! Life is a journey...enjoy the little things, celebrate the big things, and make memories along the way!
I'm excited to be working in Second Grade this year and am looking forward to an AMAZING year! What a wonderful opportunity it is for me to be working alongside Mrs. Dexheimer and Mrs. Schertz this year! Parents, your children are in excellent hands. I look forward to being a part of their lives and helping them succeed in the Second Grade this year.
